Quickstart

This walks you through your first assessment. It uses the managed cloud, and it calls out where self-hosted differs.

  • You can sign in to ReconForge. If your team is new, an administrator sets up the first account and connects an AI model. See Connecting your AI model.
  • You know the target you want to assess.
  1. Create a project. A project is the workspace for the engagement. Give it a name.
  2. Add a target. Add the domain you want to assess.
    • On the cloud, you first verify that you own the domain by adding a DNS record. This keeps assessments limited to systems you control. See Cloud.
    • On self-hosted, you can also add an IP address or range for internal testing.
  3. Choose a template. Pick the assessment type that fits, from a quick surface check to a deep review. See Templates.
  4. Launch the run. Start the assessment. You can follow it live as each step happens, or leave it and come back.
  5. Review findings. When the run finishes, open the findings. Each one is ranked by risk and carries the evidence behind it and steps to fix it. See Findings and reports.

On a self-hosted deployment, you can take a completed discovery run and safely confirm which findings are genuinely exploitable, turning candidates into proven findings. See Confirming findings.
