Running an assessment
Launching a run starts the assessment. You can follow every step live, or leave it running and come back to the results.
Launch a run
Section titled “Launch a run”Launching a run is an analyst action.
- On the project’s Templates tab, select a discovery template.
- In the Launch Scan step, choose the target.
- Select Launch Run and confirm.
Starting a run takes a few seconds while the platform prepares it. On the cloud, a run against an unverified domain is blocked until you verify ownership.
You can also see all of a project’s runs on its Runs tab.
Follow the run live
Section titled “Follow the run live”When the run starts you land on the run page. It updates live as the assessment progresses.
- The header shows the template name, the current status, the target, and elapsed time.
- The agent grid shows each part of the assessment, such as Recon, Enumeration, Vulnerability, and Reporting, with its own status as it moves from pending to running to completed.
- The tabs give you the detail: Summary, Timeline, Findings, Artifacts, and Usage. The Timeline streams events as they happen, with a live indicator while the run is active.
You can leave the page and return at any time. The run keeps going.
Run status
Section titled “Run status”A run is in one of these states:
- Pending: queued and preparing.
- Running: in progress.
- Completed: finished successfully.
- Failed: stopped on an error.
- Cancelled: stopped by a user.
Cancel a run
Section titled “Cancel a run”While a run is pending or running, select Cancel in the header to stop it. Once a run has finished, the same control becomes Delete.
- Findings and reports: read the results.
- Confirming findings: prove which findings are exploitable.
